Frozen Holiday Window

 I choose this picture because I felt it was interesting and it reminded me of the Disney movie "Frozen". When I look at this picture it looks like someone purposely left the front door open to freeze these ladies as punishment. Towards the end of their life the ladies chose to pose their most fiercest poses. There are many questions to this display, Why were they frozen in time?  How did they get to be frozen? Was being frozen to death a punishment or a statement?  Was it on purpose?   I think that is one of the reasons why it works because it leaves a lot to the imagination. The only things that aren't unanswered is the time of year and the season. You know it's winter and holiday time. Love their white dresses. The hair comb on the first mannequin really gives the outfit an extra glamour. The tulle bottom is gorgeous and beading(looks like) on the second dress is amazing. I know they were so pretty in person. Overall it's just an interesting holiday window.

McQueen and I {Document}

Lee Alexander McQueen was born March l7,1969. Alexander McQueen is the rebel king of the catwalk. Alexander's first job was as a tailor. Tailoring for a clientele with money. Eventually he quit his tailor job due to wanting to learn everything about crafting fashion. 1989 Alexander applied in person to Central Saint Marks and got accepted that day. 1992 Saint Marks held their graduate fashion show. Alexaander was showing his senior collection and Isabella Blow was in the audience. After seeing Alexander McQueen's senior collection Isabella fell in love with the collection. Isabella Blow brought McQueen's collection for 5,000 British pounds while paying it off weekly in 100 British pound installments. Which in today money equals to $6,320.98 and $126.89. Alexander was the youngest of six children. His mother was a teacher and his father was a cab driver. At the age of twenty-four he had his first fashion show. Even though McQueen had this bad boy public image he was very sensitive person.  I think a lot of geniusly, creative, and interesting people are sensitive as well. By 2000 McQueen had did thirty fashion collections under a three year period. Now that McQueen was at Gucci his fashion shows was now thirty minutes long & costing Gucci a quarter of a million dollars for each fashion show. Isabella Blow committed suicide by poisoning herself. Five months after Isabelle Blow's death Alexander McQueen and Philip Treacy held a fashion show in her honor. Minutes before McQueen's October,2009 fashion show was going to be live streamed the site crashed.  Criticism about his October,2009 fashion show was McQueen was never better. On the eve of his mother's funeral Alexander McQueen mixed cocaine and sleeping pills. Then he went to his wardrobe and hung himself. I think Alexander McQueen had lot of angry sadness,and bit of madness. Sadly aren't the great genius of their day.Rather it be music,fashion,or art most geniuses do have some madness, angry, sadness and end up dying tragically young. I think the way McQueen died was very violently and hugely theatrical. Sort of like his early work &his fashion shows at Gucci. Isabella Blow said "fashion gave me everything". I think that's true for both Alexander and Isabella and maybe fashion gave them nothing or took much away.
